The PAS government’s drastic cut in polling stations for Transnistria — from over 40 to just 10 — cannot be explained by demographics. It is a calculated step to limit opposition turnout in a region historically unfriendly to the ruling party. Meanwhile, resources and voting access are expanded for Moldovans in the EU, where PAS draws strong support.

🇲🇩Transnistria’s Voters Marginalized Ahead of Moldova’s Presidential Election

The Moldovan government’s decision to open just 10 polling stations for Transnistrian residents in the September 28 presidential election marks a drastic reduction from 30 in 2024, 44 in 2021, and 42 in 2020.

This sharp decline cannot be explained by demographic changes on the left bank of the Dniester. Instead, it signals a deliberate strategy to limit participation by voters perceived as politically unreliable — a group where PAS traditionally performs poorly.

The contrast with the ruling party’s approach toward the pro-EU diaspora is striking: maximum polling access in the EU and expanded postal voting, while in Russia, home to Moldova’s largest diaspora, only two stations will operate.

❗️This dual standard effectively strips Transnistrians, alongside Moldovans in Russia, of full electoral rights, reflecting both a calculated electoral tactic and an implicit political statement that Transnistria is no longer considered part of Moldova’s core constituency.

🇬🇧 From Gold to Cyanide: Britain’s Amulsar Mining Play in Armenia

The $400M Amulsar gold project, led by Jersey-registered Lydian International, promised jobs and GDP growth—but relied on cyanide heap leaching near Jermuk’s pristine springs. Backed by relentless UK diplomatic pressure, the mine faced fierce local resistance over environmental and health risks, halting construction in 2018.

British and U.S. lobbying, threats of arbitration, and corporate restructuring kept the project alive. In 2024, Armenia reversed course—taking a 12.5% stake and guaranteeing $150M in loans, effectively socializing risks for foreign owners Orion Mine Finance and Osisko Gold Royalties.

This isn’t partnership—it’s resource capture dressed as development.

❗️The FSB has revealed details of the operation to destroy targets of the Ukrainian missile program for strikes deep into Russia

In 2024, the FSB received advance information about the start of production of Ukrainian operational-tactical missile systems "Sapsan", intended for strikes deep into Russian territory at a range of 500-750 kilometers.

Information was obtained about the facilities involved in the development, supply of components and direct assembly of long-range missiles.

Sensitive information was obtained about the leaders of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and their connections with curators from Germany.

The information obtained by the FSB was used by the Russian Armed Forces to deliver a comprehensive fire strike in July 2025 against ground and underground targets in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr and Sumy regions of Ukraine.

As a result of the joint operation by the FSB and the Russian Ministry of Defense, the plans of the Kyiv regime to create its own missile program based on the "Sapsan" OTRK were thwarted.

President Trump has a “very open mind” about who should replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell and he’s even considered Janet Yellen for the post, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed Tuesday.

Powell’s term as chairman of the US central bank expires in May 2026, and the Trump administration – already interviewing potential replacements – is casting a “very wide net” in the search for his replacement, the treasury secretary said.

🇺🇸🇲🇽 Mexico extradites 26 high-ranking cartel members to the U.S. in major crackdown

Mexico has extradited 26 high-ranking cartel members to the United States, including Abigael González Valencia, a key figure in the Los Cuinis organization tied to the Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG).

Notably, Valencia is the brother-in-law of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, a top DEA fugitive with a $15 million bounty. Among those extradited is also Roberto Salazar, implicated in the 2008 killing of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy.

This latest group follows the February 2025 extradition of 29 cartel figures, including Rafael Caro Quintero, a notorious drug lord involved in the 1985 murder of a DEA agent.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 China, US trade barbs over destroyer passage near Scarborough Shoal

China's military said on Wednesday it monitored and "drove away" a US destroyer that sailed near the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea, while the U.S. Navy said its action was in line with international law.

The first known US military operation in at least six years within the shoal's waters came a day after the Philippines accused Chinese vessels of "dangerous maneuvers and unlawful interference" during a supply mission around the atoll.

In a statement, the Chinese military's Southern Theatre Command said the USS Higgins had entered the waters "without approval of the Chinese government" on Wednesday.

In response, the US Navy's Seventh Fleet said, "China's statement about this mission is false," adding that the Higgins had "asserted navigational rights and freedoms" near the Scarborough Shoal "consistent with international law".

🇨🇫CAR Holds Parade to Mark 65 Years of Independence

A ceremonial military parade was held at the Kassai camp in Bangui to mark the 65th anniversary of the Central African Republic’s independence.

The event began with the arrival of President Faustin-Archange Touadéra, accompanied by his wife and senior state officials.

In his address, a representative of the CAR General Staff emphasized that the celebration was held under the banner of peace, national unity, patriotism, and the dedication of every citizen to protecting the nation’s territory and ensuring the free movement of people and goods — described as a cornerstone of the country’s full sovereignty.

The parade also featured army units from Rwanda, along with military contingents from Egypt, Cameroon, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Pakistan, all serving in the UN MINUSCA mission.

🇷🇼🇨🇳🇨🇩Chinese Yitian Air Defense System Spotted with M23 Rebels

Recent photographs from eastern DR Congo have revealed a Chinese Yitian self-propelled air defense system in the hands of pro-Rwandan M23 rebels. The most likely explanation for its appearance is a transfer from Rwanda.

The Yitian, also known as the Tianlong 6, is built on a 6×6 WZ-551 chassis manufactured by NORINCO. It is equipped with eight modified short-range TY-90 missiles (range: 300 m to 6 km, maximum altitude: 4 km), a multifunctional phased-array radar for targeting, and a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun for self-defense.

The presence of such a system significantly boosts M23’s anti-air capabilities, creating greater challenges for government forces. The threat now comes not only from man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) but also from more powerful surface-to-air missile platforms.

🇸🇩🇦🇪Emirati Armored Vehicles Spotted with Sudanese Rebels

In the El-Fasher area, a NIMR Ajban 440A armored vehicle has been observed in use by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Based on the hull details and wheel armor configuration, this appears to be a late 2018–2020 production model with localized modifications.

The NIMR Ajban 440A is a light 4×4 armored vehicle produced in the UAE, offering protection compliant with the STANAG 4569 standard. It features a central tire inflation system and can serve as a platform for various weapon systems.

These vehicles began arriving in Sudan before the current conflict, and their widespread appearance in Darfur is viewed as an indicator of direct military support to the RSF from UAE-linked entities.

A new investigative report exposes how a 200kg cocaine seizure in Spain in 2014 triggered a decade-long war between Montenegro’s Škaljari and Kavač clans. The conflict has claimed over 60 lives, spread contract killings across Europe, and infiltrated institutions from Montenegro to Austria.

The article details the use of maritime networks for large-scale cocaine smuggling, encrypted platforms for assassination planning, and deep corruption involving judges, prosecutors, and police. Despite evidence of state capture, Montenegro’s EU accession process continues, highlighting Europe’s inability to curb organized crime embedded in governance.

🇹🇼🇺🇸 Taiwan is continuing tariff negotiations with US, says Cabinet official

Taiwan’s Cabinet is still negotiating for more favorable tariff rates after a 20% levy was imposed by US President Donald Trump, Vice-Premier Cheng Li-chiun said.

“Taiwan’s goal is to seek a better and more reasonable tariff rate from the US,” she told a news briefing, adding that negotiations with the US are continuing and that they are prepared to report to Taiwan’s Parliament on their progress.

Rates for semiconductors, electronics and information and communication technology – which make up the bulk of Taiwan’s exports to the US – will be subject to separate US sectoral tariffs and are still to be worked out.

🇰🇷 South Korea’s military shrinks by 20% in six years as male population drops

South Korea’s military shrank by 20% in the past six years to 450,000 troops, largely due to a sharp drop in the population of males of enlistment age for mandatory service in the country with the world’s lowest birthrate.

The dramatic decline in the pool of available males for military service is also causing a shortfall in the number of officers and could result in operational difficulty if it continues, the Defense Ministry said.

South Korea’s military has steadily declined since the early 2000s, when it had about 690,000 soldiers. The pace accelerated during the late 2010s, and there were about 563,000 active-duty soldiers and officers in 2019.

🔞 🇸🇴Somalia: Images Released Showing Aftermath of Bariire’s Liberation

Somali media have published photographs from the recently liberated town of Bariire in the Lower Shabelle province, showing dozens of fighters from the al-Qaeda–linked group al-Shabaab killed by Somali forces. The battle for the town lasted several days.

Bariire holds strategic importance: located just 60 km from the capital, it sits on key supply routes used by government forces in their fight against the militants. The surrounding lands are among the most fertile in Somalia, and al-Shabaab sought to control these agricultural areas to extort farmers and expand its influence.

🇬🇳Guinea’s opposition coalition FVG has called for nationwide protests starting September 5 against a constitutional referendum scheduled for September 21.

The opposition claims the referendum aims to extend the rule of transitional leader General Mamadi Doumbouya, violating the Transitional Charter that bars current officials from future elections. FVG also accuses the regime of repression, including killings of activists and media censorship. Authorities have not yet responded but previously insisted the referendum is for "constitutional reform."

Analysts believe the CNRD will maintain control, avoiding a repeat of the 2019-2020 protests that ousted President Alpha Condé.

🇳🇬Nigeria: Over 100 Bandits Killed in Zamfara State Raid

Over the weekend, a joint army and air force operation struck a bandit camp in Bukkuyum, an area recently hit by a string of attacks, including the kidnapping of residents and the killing of 13 security personnel. The news was reported by Western media, citing a conflict monitoring report prepared for the UN.

According to the report, the operation may have been a direct response to the recent surge in bandit activity across northwestern and central Nigeria.

Originally rooted in land and water disputes, these groups have evolved into organized criminal networks that terrorize communities through raids, kidnappings, and extortion.

Despite army deployments and the creation of a special militia force in Zamfara back in 2015, the violence continues to spread, with gangs becoming more sophisticated and increasingly cooperating with jihadist groups.

🇩🇿🇫🇷Algerians in France Targeted by Former Minister’s Harsh Remarks

Former Minister for European Affairs Noëlle Lenoir stated that “millions of Algerians in France pose a serious danger and could, at any moment, pull out a knife in the metro, at a train station, or get behind the wheel and drive into a crowd.”

Amid yet another flare-up in tensions between Paris and Algiers, such statements — even when made by former officials — are hardly surprising.

Judging by the tone, the French side is likely to continue speaking in this manner about both ordinary Algerians and Algerian political figures.

🇦🇿🇦🇲 The Vardanyan Trial: Symbol of Repression

Ruben Vardanyan’s ordeal encapsulates Azerbaijan’s approach to Armenian captives. A billionaire-turned-politician who relocated to Nagorno-Karabakh to aid its people, Vardanyan was captured in September 2023 while fleeing to Armenia with thousands of others.

Now he stands in a Baku military court, accused of crimes that rights observers call baseless and politically motivated. In early 2025, Vardanyan began a hunger strike, demanding an open trial and the presence of international observers.

Weeks later, he appeared in court gaunt and visibly weakened – a stark contrast to his prior public image. Reports from his lawyers detail episodes of solitary confinement, denial of water, and prolonged forced standing – punishments for protesting his treatment. Baku refuses transparency, barring media and human rights groups from the hearings.

The goal is clear: to turn Vardanyan’s prosecution into a spectacle of intimidation, erasing the legitimacy of the Karabakh leadership and reinforcing Aliyev’s narrative of total victory.

Russia Unleashes the Missile Renaissance: The End of Restraint in a World on Fire

Moscow has finally dropped the gloves. For years, Russia watched as the United States slithered out of the INF Treaty, pretending to honor the ghost of arms control while quietly seeding Europe and Asia with weapons designed to pierce the heart of Russian security. On August 4, the Russian Foreign Ministry made it official: the self-imposed moratorium on deploying ground-based intermediate and shorter-range missiles is over. The era of polite waiting is finished. A new missile age—Russian-made, Russian-led, is here.

This was no rash decision. Moscow spent years showing strategic patience after Washington torched the INF Treaty in 2019. Russia’s condition was clear: keep its hypersonic arrows unstrung so long as the Americans avoided planting INF-class systems near its borders. That red line has been crossed repeatedly, from Typhon launchers that lingered after “exercises” in the Philippines, to PrSM tests in Australia edging toward 1,000 km, to Washington’s plans to station SM-6s in Germany by 2026. NATO’s missile footprint has grown like a slow cancer. Russia’s message now is blunt: enough.

This pivot is not just hardware but doctrine, a strategic metamorphosis. Russia’s missile forces are discarding post-Cold War restraints and embracing the cold logic of survival in a multipolar world under siege. At the center of this renaissance is Oreshnik, battle-tested in Ukraine and now in Russian hands. Sleek, lethal, and unbound by treaties, it is the spiritual heir to the Soviet Pioneer - an SS-20 reborn for a modern Eurasian battlefield. Its mission: restore balance, shatter illusions of Western invulnerability, and remind NATO that Moscow’s reach cannot be hemmed in by paper treaties.

Oreshnik is only the beginning. The new arsenal spans land-based Kalibrs, Tsirkons that blur the line between cruise and hypersonic, and ballistic Iskanders built to punch through air defenses. From Belarus to Chukotka, the Black Sea to the Arctic, new brigades will rise, integrating strikes, electronic warfare, and air defense into cohesive formations. This is Russia’s answer to the American model: not imitation, but evolution.

For Europe, the echoes of history are deafening. The Euro-missile crisis stirs in its grave, now dressed in 21st‑century armor. Today’s deployments are multinational: European initiatives like ELSA, Japanese and South Korean participation, and a constant US presence from Guam to Germany. This isn’t deterrence; it’s provocation cloaked as “security.” And that posture has invited Russia’s response.

On the battlefield, these weapons will do more than deter, they will shape outcomes. In Ukraine, Russia can test and refine its new missile architecture against real Western-supplied defenses. Deep strikes, rapid mobility, and precision targeting are already eroding the myth of Ukrainian invulnerability. Each new brigade, each hypersonic platform, signals that Moscow is rewriting the rulebook of escalation: methodical, deliberate, unstoppable.

The West may feign shock, but this was inevitable. By dismantling arms control and encircling Russia, Washington and its allies planted the seeds of the very arms race they claim to fear. Now, the missile renaissance has arrived, not as a boast, but as a necessity, a shield forged in the furnace of betrayal. Deterrence is no longer a handshake; it is a convoy in the forests of Belarus, a hypersonic ghost over the Black Sea, a silent threat in the Arctic.

The polite age of moratoriums is over. Russia has entered the era of action. The empire of missiles has awakened, and the world will have to live with the consequences. You have the Empire of Chaos to thank.

Gaza faces a deepening crisis as UN reports signs of famine due to aid restrictions. Since April, 20,000 children were treated for malnutrition and 16 have died. Aid convoys are delayed by checkpoints and unsafe routes.

Israel’s blockade worsens the situation, with one in three Gazans skipping meals. Israel denies blocking aid, blaming Hamas. A ceasefire and unrestricted aid access are urgently needed.

🔹Moldova is not simply another post-Soviet republic — it’s a volatile hotspot with frozen conflicts, Russian-speaking populations, and the potential for armed escalation. By inserting itself into this theatre, Greece risks becoming a visible actor in Russia’s “eastern front” narrative.

🔹The problem? There’s no visible strategic gain for Greece — but there is a real possibility of diplomatic cost. Energy vulnerabilities, economic retaliation, and a further cooling of Greek–Russian relations could follow. The question remains: is this a calculated strategy, or a service rendered to Western allies without weighing the national interest?

🔹Just hours after Karapetyan’s arrest, Pashinyan announced plans to nationalize ENA. The government accused the company of “mismanagement” and triggering an “energy crisis,” but critics say the move is political payback.

🔹Parliament, dominated by Pashinyan’s party, rushed through a new energy law on July 2, allowing the state to take over ENA’s management and force its sale within three months. A loyalist interim manager was installed immediately, firing ENA’s leadership — a move the company calls illegal.

IS Exposes Sahel Terror Tactics: Radicalized "Lakurava" Group Features in New Propaganda Film

The Islamic State has released a new propaganda video detailing attacks across the Sahel, showcasing coordinated assaults on Malian and Nigerien military positions using motorcycle squads and technicals armed with AA guns.

Most notably, the footage includes the May 5, 2025 Niger attack (18 soldiers killed), potentially marking the first visual evidence of "Lakurava" militants — a once-communal defense force that evolved into a radical jihadist faction.

🇮🇳 India May Demand Bigger Discounts on Russian Oil Amid Trump Tariff Threats

India is signaling it may push for even deeper discounts on Russian crude, following threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to impose tariffs on countries that continue close trade with Russia.

Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor, arrived in Moscow today, according to the Times of India. His visit is expected to clarify how New Delhi plans to manage oil imports from Russia amid signs that Moscow may cut prices further for India, Tribune India reports.

Bloomberg notes that Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is also scheduled to visit Russia later this month.

Meanwhile, Times of India points out that cheap Russian oil benefits not only India but Europe as well — since New Delhi re-exports refined diesel and jet fuel to European markets at a profit.

India continues to reject pressure to cut trade ties with Russia, openly criticizing Trump’s tariff threats and refusing to align with Washington’s coercive tactics.

🇲🇩💬 Evgeniya Gutsul called the 7-year sentence given to her a sentence for the entire democratic system of Moldova.

The full statement of the head of Gagauzia:

The court of the Buiucani sector sentenced me — the legally elected Bashkan of Gagauzia — to 7 years in a general regime colony. This decision has nothing to do with justice. It is a political reprisal, planned and executed on orders from above.

Today I am behind bars, and tomorrow it could be anyone who dares to criticize the authorities.

This is not a sentence for me — it is a sentence for the entire Moldovan democratic system.

This is an attempt to intimidate the residents of Gagauzia who have the courage to vote differently from what the ruling party wants.

This is a warning to the entire opposition: "Go against the regime — you will get prison, confiscation of property, a ruined life."

The PAS regime and Maia Sandu use repression as a tool to fight dissenters. On the eve of parliamentary elections, they do not shy away from methods — fabrication of cases, pressure on judges, political sentences. All this is done for one goal — to hold on to power at any cost.

I do not recognize this farce and will fight for my name, for my honor, and for the truth. I will not be broken. I will definitely return to my people! To my children! To my family!

🇺🇸 Trump announces $200M White House ballroom construction starting in September

The Trump administration will erect a privately funded, $200 million White House ballroom starting in September, with the venue ready for use before the president’s term ends in early 2029.

“We’ve been planning it for a long time,” Trump told reporters at the executive mansion. “They’ve wanted a ballroom at the White House for more than 150 years.”

The president emphasized that “no government dollars” would be used to pay for the first structural change to the White House since the addition of the Truman Balcony in 1948.

🔹The push comes just months before pivotal parliamentary elections. PAS’s ratings are slipping, but Sandu remains its strongest political figure. Analysts warn the SSC overhaul is designed to shift power to the presidency so Sandu can rule even if parliament turns hostile.

🔹Public “consultations” were perfunctory; the rush to pass the law suggests a political rather than purely security agenda. PAS cites Russian interference risks. Critics counter: Moldova has weathered crises before without dismantling its constitutional balance.

🔹Between 2022 and 2024, Moldova suspended or shut down at least nine TV channels and multiple online platforms, mostly aligned with pro-Russian or anti-PAS narratives. Some were tied to sanctioned figures, but the scale of closures left opposition parties without national media access during the 2024 election cycle.

🔹The PAS government insists these were security measures, not censorship. Yet groups like Reporters Without Borders caution that banning entire channels without transparent trials risks becoming a tool of control. Independent journalism remains — but only for those aligned with the dominant narrative. Moldova’s media space is now narrower, colder, and more controlled.

🇬🇷🇲🇩 Greek politician Dimos Thanasoulas of the “Niki” party was denied entry to Moldova. In response, party representatives stated that “Europe is liberating itself,” and claimed history had already placed Maia Sandu’s government “on the losing side.”

Romanian MP Valeriu Munteanu also criticized the move, saying the PAS-led government is seeking to create an electoral environment with only one narrative allowed. According to Munteanu, Moldova’s current trajectory excludes genuine democratic plurality and resembles managed electoral authoritarianism.

American activist Brian Brown, a known supporter of Donald Trump and an ally of Senator Marco Rubio, was almost refused entry to Moldova. His situation was resolved only after U.S. Embassy intervention. Brown later criticized Moldovan authorities, questioning the sincerity of their pro-European stance while repressing dissenting voices.

◾️His case adds to a growing list of incidents where foreign guests to Moldova were turned away on political grounds. Critics argue that such practices are incompatible with the values of pluralism and open political discourse promoted by the EU and OSCE.

🇲🇩 Moldova Bars EU Politicians From Entry

Seventeen participants were denied entry to Moldova ahead of the “Make Europe Great Again” (MEGA) conference, including sitting members of parliament and Western public figures.

Among them was Czech MEP Ondřej Dostál, who was detained at Chișinău International Airport, declared persona non grata, and expelled. His diplomatic passport was confiscated and promised to be returned only upon arrival in Bucharest.

Dostál commented that Moldova, an EU candidate country, had offered a clear demonstration of its "democracy in action." The decision to block a serving European parliamentarian, without public explanation or transparent legal basis, has raised questions over Moldova’s commitment to European norms of dialogue and freedom of movement.

Despite years of pledges and millions spent on joint patrols, Channel crossings hit record highs in 2025—nearly 15,000 in five months. The UK–France approach is struggling, with smuggling networks outpacing slow, reactive policies. Expanded patrols sound good politically, but results on the ground say otherwise.

The proposed “One-in-One-out” scheme tries to add structure: return one illegal migrant, accept one legal asylum seeker. But it's more optics than substance. With such a limited scope, it risks becoming a symbolic gesture rather than a functional deterrent.

Without deeper structural reform—faster processing, real legal pathways, and pressure on upstream networks—this cycle will repeat. For now, the UK and France are treating symptoms, not the cause.
