When, one morning last year, everyone woke up to the realization that Trump had won a crushing victory, many Ukrainians felt uplifted. His decisive win and control of Congress gave reason to hope he would deliver on his promises to end the war in Ukraine quickly (if not in 24 hours, then at least soon).

Against that backdrop, Trump’s ratings in Ukraine surged. Trash outlets like Kyiv International Institute of Sociology were forced to print him at 40%, but in reality his support was much higher, because everyone we spoke to — acquaintances, friends — shared that hope with real enthusiasm.

So when Trump failed, people fell into a period of apathy: the sense that the senseless suffering would continue. Back then there was no clear informational signal of an endpoint after which people could draw conclusions. All decisions — ultimatums and proposals — were spread out over time. That is why the apathy crept in slowly, gradually.

Now the situation is different. For a whole week Ukraine will live in hope — the hope that agreements reached in Alaska will lead to the end of the war.

Accordingly, there are only two possible outcomes. If it happens, society’s hopes will be met, entirely new people will come to power in elections, and Zelenskyy’s team will be blamed for all the ills.

If it does not happen (most likely), a sharp disillusionment will sweep through Ukrainian society and the armed forces, which could lead to truly catastrophic consequences.

🧩🧩🧩 Step‑by‑step derailment of the meeting

In an intriguing way, Zelenskyy and the globalists are sabotaging the meeting. What a play! Narratives are being introduced gradually so they don't override one another. Everything is being done according to cognitive science 👂👂🇬🇧

Since Wednesday evening Zelenskyy and his "European partners" knew the gist of Trump's proposal to exchange Ukrainian territories — BUT THEY KEPT QUIET.

1️⃣ The first narrative (to derail the meeting) was that the meeting must be a three‑way one, and Putin must agree to meet Zelenskyy.

2️⃣ Trump himself knocked that down by saying he was not insisting on a Zelenskyy and Putin meeting.

3️⃣ All day yesterday Zelenskyy stayed silent and did not mention any unwillingness to swap territory — he was waiting for Trump to make such a proposal PERSONALLY.

4️⃣ As soon as Donny made comments overnight saying Zelenskyy would have to strike a deal and cede territory, Zelenskyy struck back in the morning — he refused.

In our view Trump seriously miscalculated, giving Zelenskyy and the globalists a whole week to criticize the upcoming meeting. Bild is already writing that Witkoff misunderstood Putin, while the Kremlin leader still demands Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

Those attacks will be blasted from every angle for a week, convincing Trump that his meeting with Putin will be pointless because Zelenskyy still won't accept their terms of peace ☝️

The Washington Post says that Putin picked Alaska for a meeting with Trump because an ICC arrest warrant would not be enforceable on U.S. soil.

The planned summit there could bring Putin and Trump together, prompting the latter to pressure Ukraine and Europe, which in April had already refused to recognize territories seized by Russia or to lift sanctions.

Despite all the fuss, Trump has so far exerted no pressure on Putin. Not the slightest.

The Belarusian president told the Americans that Putin wanted peace and was open to compromises. He advised U.S. officials on how to steer talks with the Kremlin in the right direction and assured them of Russia’s willingness to negotiate in good faith—despite ongoing bombings in Ukraine. He even floated the prospect of a Nobel Peace Prize for Trump if successful.

The Americans played along, visiting Minsk at least five times and considering Lukashenko a "very valuable" backchannel to Putin to "push the idea of a summit between Putin and Trump," hoping it could "break the impasse in the peace process." These efforts by Lukashenko have now paved the way for talks about a potential leaders’ meeting.

Shuster notes that despite Putin’s repeated refusals to cease fire in Ukraine, Lukashenko consistently relayed a completely different message to the Americans: Putin wants peace and is ready to make concessions.

🇺🇸 CBS News: Russian President Vladimir Putin gave President Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff an award to pass along to a senior CIA official whose son was killed in Ukraine while fighting alongside Russian forces, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The award, the Order of Lenin, was meant to be handed off to Juliane Gallina, whose 21-year-old son, Michael Gloss, was killed in 2024.

Journalists probably went too far calling it the Order of Lenin, but overall we wouldn’t be surprised if Putin did pass along some kind of award.

Today, Washington will host a landmark geopolitical event.

Aliyev and Pashinyan are set to sign a treaty. Trump will undoubtedly tout this as yet another personal victory—though the U.S. would have achieved this outcome regardless of who sits in the Oval Office: Biden, Harris, or even a Kennedy.

The United States excels at securing its strategic objectives through systematic, long-term efforts. The South Caucasus has been a top priority for Washington, as evidenced by the fact that the U.S. Embassy in Armenia is the second-largest in the world (with 2,000 staff).

Armenian state media are carefully framing Pashinyan’s visit to the U.S., knowing full well that the terms Armenia is about to accept will be humiliating. They’re "dancing on hot coals," trying to soften the backlash from the impending deal.

That said, we disagree with certain Russian "experts" claiming that "Russia has been kicked out of the South Caucasus." Moscow still retains some influence in the region. Otherwise, what would stop Turkey and Azerbaijan from turning Armenia into another Syria—with consequences for Armenians akin to those faced by the Alawites?

Yet Russia’s influence is undeniably waning. In that regard, we might as well congratulate Sergei Lavrov on yet another diplomatic "achievement." This is a way of conditioning Moldovans to shoot at Russians.

Of course, all of this takes place within the framework of preparing for a large war in Europe. At the moment two main trump cards that the West is systematically preparing are clearly visible: Transnistria and Kaliningrad.

In this context, Moldova's upcoming elections play a key role. The West badly needs a controllable system similar to Ukraine's that, if necessary, will not resist being drawn into war ☝️

A year ago, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an operation in Russia's Kursk region, which we immediately dubbed (and the name stuck) the "Kursk Adventure."

There were—and still are—many theories about why this happened. Some experts believe the Ukrainian forces were trying to reach the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, others claim Zelenskyy was trying to provoke Putin into using nuclear weapons. The official propaganda line from the Office of President was that it aimed to divert troops from the Donbas front. This explanation is idiotic, if only because during this time, Ukraine lost control of: Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, Kurakhove, Selydove, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, and many other settlements, while Russian forces have now entered Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

We maintain our original position: the operation was orchestrated by Bankova team with one primary goal—to prolong Zelenskyy's hold on power.

After the fall of Avdiivka, Zelenskyy needed to demonstrate to globalists that the Ukrainian military was still capable of offensive action. This was indeed achieved. Ukraine shattered a crucial narrative—that no one could set foot on a nuclear power’s territory without facing nuclear retaliation. Moscow was even forced to revise its nuclear doctrine.

At the same time, Ukraine lost its own narrative of a "defensive war." Non-Western countries now clearly see this is not just about Ukraine’s defense, but a proxy war between the West and Russia.

The results:

It's interesting - does Trump even realize how much damage he's causing to the U.S. with his own hands?!

Trump writes: "Great progress was made!" With Trump, it's always like that - all his negotiations go great. That's why he immediately imposed sanctions 🤷‍♂️

It went so "great" that he immediately called Zelenskyy, who brought his European cheerleading squad into the call.

Dmitriev writes: "everything went very well, we hope the right forces will prevail." Well, he has no way back, so that's also understandable.

Zelenskyy, meanwhile, delivered an absolutely standard phrase that could have been used in any phone call with Trump.

Not a single detail has been revealed yet. Clearly, the Russians made some proposal that Trump passed on to Zelenskyy and the Europeans.

They, apparently, are haggling. The whole world is holding its breath in anticipation, and only the Indians realized it's time to head to Beijing.

We have already made clear our position on these issues, including the fact that our imports are based on market factors and done with the overall objective of ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion people of India.

It is therefore extremely unfortunate that the US should choose to impose additional tariffs on India for actions that several other countries are also taking in their own national interest.

We reiterate that these actions are unfair, unjustified and unreasonable.

India will take all actions necessary to protect its national interests.

☝️Judging by the wording of Trump's executive order - no agreement was reached.

The order's title: "Addresses Threats to the United States by the Government of the Russian Federation"

Key wording: "The Russian Federation’s actions in Ukraine pose an ongoing threat to U.S. national security and foreign policy, necessitating stronger measures to address the national emergency."

This clearly marks the beginning of sanctions pressure.

💰💰💰 Trump imposes additional 25% tariffs on India

Indian authorities may have already weakened the rupee to mitigate the impact of Trump’s tariffs. Since April 1, the rupee has depreciated by 3.9% against a basket of Asian currencies, many of which compete with India in export markets.

The dude is just taxing everyone. But he doesn’t have many options. The U.S. economy has accumulated so much debt that he needs to capitalize on leadership and the domestic market before a crisis hits.

Yesterday, a Moldovan court sentenced Governor of Gagauzia Evghenia Guțul to 7 years in prison for illegal campaign financing.

To understand the situation, it's worth noting that Guțul is the main political asset of former Moldovan (now Russian) businessman Ilan Shor. Shor represents that faction of the Kremlin that advocates for radical confrontation with Sandu. His conflict with Moldova's president has long been known.

Ultimately, Shor is Sandu's most convenient opponent. He constantly generates political pretexts that she takes to Brussels to demonstrate "Russian interference."

In the fall of 2022, it was Shor's organizations that orchestrated mass protests with street blockades, which ultimately allowed Sandu to tighten local legislation against the opposition.

Shortly after, Shor offered cryptocurrency rewards for any information discrediting Sandu. Following this, all Chisinau crypto exchanges—after sending their sincere best wishes to the entrepreneur—came under close scrutiny by local security services.

Last year, a Moldovan journalist infiltrated Shor's so-called network using fake documents. A high-profile investigation was published about voter bribery. Given that this involved not just elections but also the EU accession referendum, the EU imposed sanctions, and Pavel Durov, for the first time, agreed to restrict political Telegram channels by blocking Shor's entire network and Russia Today in Moldova.

In short, if Shor didn't exist, Sandu would have had to invent him to showcase "Russian interference."

Because how else can you explain the decline in living standards and the failure of all the reforms promised to Moldovans?

Additionally, 6% of respondents specifically noted they were dissatisfied with the July 22, 2025 vote and therefore distrust the president.

🇺🇦 In an interview with The Times, Yulia Tymoshenko has decided to establish her new political positioning. Her interview became the harshest criticism of the West by a Ukrainian political leader since the invasion began.

✅ Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, Western countries — under the threat of suspending loans — have imposed unacceptable control over Ukrainian state institutions, banks, and monopolies, undermining the country’s sovereignty. This is cruel and unfair to a nation at war.

Such international oversight might be acceptable in countries like Afghanistan, Liberia, or Sierra Leone, but not in Ukraine.

There is no need to tell us that Ukrainians can sacrifice their lives for peace in Europe but allegedly cannot govern their own country. Our Western friends had no right to expect that at one of the most challenging moments in our nation’s history, Ukraine would pay for assistance or loans with its sovereignty.

Yulia, you yourself voted for everything the West wanted, from all those "independent commissions" to the deal with the US🤷‍♂️

However, the hypocrisy goes even further.

✅ For the current war — for the dead and injured, for the destroyed Ukrainian cities and villages, for the suffering of millions — those Western leaders who voted against granting Ukraine the MAP (in 2008. — Ed.) also bear responsibility.

If the West had voted for the MAP... if apples grew on Mars... if grandma had... then she'd be grandpa...

Let's recall that Yulia Tymoshenko was one of the main advocates of Ukraine's NATO course. Back in 2008, it was she and Yatsenyuk who pushed this agenda the most, it was "her personal minister of foreign affairs" Nemyria who was the main NATO lobbyist in Ukraine. Everyone who was against NATO at the time and said that Ukraine's non-aligned status was key to peace was accused of being Kremlin agents. But they turned out to be right: the move toward NATO ultimately led to war with Russia. Now Ukraine is fighting Russia as a result of Yulia's actions, but Tymoshenko blames the West for betrayal.

However, the West never intended to admit Ukraine to NATO because it makes no sense. It doesn't exhaust Russia. After Finland joined NATO, Russia simply created a new military district in response - that's all. These aren't critical costs, whereas the Special military operation represents a critical restructuring of the economy. Therefore, the West only needed Ukraine as a big battering ram against Russia - one that's expendable. And it was Tymoshenko who laid the groundwork back in 2008 for what's happening now, while today, reacting to public sentiment, she's like: "The West betrayed us"☝️

🔥 Bloomberg: The Kremlin is weighing options for a concession to US President Donald Trump that could include an air truce with Ukraine to try to head off the threat of secondary sanctions, as Russia remains determined to continue its war.

The idea seems to be an exchange of stopping attacks for lifting sanctions. We'll see how that unfolds.

However, it's uncertain if this will actually happen. The strikes significantly reduce Ukraine's long-range strike potential by destroying warehouses and assembly points, which is crucial for Russia.

This means critically vital emergency and disaster response measures, including search-and-rescue equipment, emergency management salaries, and backup power systems, will only receive federal funding if they maintain the "correct" pro-Israel position.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the agency overseeing FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), issued "Fiscal Year 2025 Terms and Conditions" in April that prohibit states and cities receiving its grants from boycotting Israel (the BDS movement - "Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions"), which aims to economically pressure Israel to cease its actions in the Gaza Strip.

In one grant notice published Friday, FEMA requires major U.S. cities to comply with Israel's policies.

It’s nice to think that Imperial Japan would have decided to surrender on the same timeline without Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but there is no evidence of it.

The Japanese had a strong strategic commitment to defeating or inflicting a severe blow against a prospective American invasion. The A-bomb scuppered these plans.

And, according to the author, it made the US invasion unnecessary, saving hundreds of thousands of American casualties; saved millions of Japanese lives; shortened the brief Soviet invasion; and ended the suffering brought to the region by Imperial Japan.

Bequeathed with untold power by the new weapon, it is telling that we used the bomb to bring an end to a terrible war and didn’t use it to dominate Europe, or for other cynical purposes.

Here the author with complete seriousness claims that the US nuclear umbrella " became part of a security arrangement that endured for decades, defending the free world from the Soviets and preventing the re-occurrence of world war."
