English is quite literally an ethnicity. As an English person I’m ethnically NW European. This is a hill that I will die on because I’m not going to pretend something isn’t true to pander to people’s feelings.

Took my toddler to a mum and baby group today and it clicked with me why I struggle to make friends with other mums. I can’t do small talk. I’m rubbish at it. I don’t know what to say and I end up sitting there looking blank half of the time. If you wanna talk about Britain formally recognising Palestine or why The Handmaid’s Tale is pro-refugee propaganda I can do that but I can’t have a conversation with you about how many times your baby woke up through the night. This is one of the reasons I’m glad Sam is home because I can lean on him in social situations 😁

I reject the notion of digital ID because it will give the government centralised control over many aspects of our lives, from where we live, to where we work, to who we bank with, and god knows what else in the future. It will allow them to monitor every purchase and interaction you have. They’ll have full control over many aspects of your life. Don’t believe that Black Mirror was only fiction. We are only one step away from social credit scores and those of us who don’t align with the government’s idea of “British values” will suffer.
