Wealthy Italians paid to hunt civilians and children in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War — Milan prosecutors have launched an investigation.
According to foreign media reports, groups of wealthy tourists from various countries paid Bosnian Serb military personnel for the opportunity to visit the besieged city and engage in "human safaris," shooting civilians.
They had no political or religious motives. They were rich people who went there for entertainment and personal pleasure, writer Gavazzini told The Guardian.
From 1992 to 1996, more than 10,000 people were killed in Sarajevo by sniper fire and shelling. Soldiers deliberately and without hesitation shot civilians in the streets, including children.
In 2016, former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic was found guilty of genocide.
