For the first time in history, a landmark global convention against cybercrime officially opened for signature, with Vietnam as the host nation.
The UN Convention against Cybercrime reflected global solidarity and a shared commitment to building a safe, healthy, and sustainable cyberspace. It also marked the launch of a global legal framework and reaffirmed the strength of multilateralism, where nations unite beyond differences to ensure peace, security, stability, and development.
The event was a significant milestone, with representatives from Vietnam and nearly 70 other countries signing the Convention.
At the ceremony, Mr. Luu Tran, Head of Product Development at SSI Digital (SSID) & Co-Founder and CTO at U2U Network, delivered an insightful speech on: “Decentralized Identity (DID) – A Security Shield for the Digital Finance Era.”
Mr. Tran emphasized that DID represents a paradigm shift in how identity is managed online. Instead of relying on third parties like Facebook, Google, or centralized data repositories that are vulnerable to breaches and limit user control, DID empowers individuals to own and manage their personal data.
This technology paves the way for a secure, transparent, and user-centric digital financial ecosystem. By enabling instant verification without exposing entire personal data sets, DID supports the vision of “one-time KYC, use everywhere”, while strengthening defenses against sophisticated cyberattacks.
This presentation underscores the pioneering roles of SSI Digital and U2U Network in advancing decentralized identity solutions, empowering users, and strengthening trust in Vietnam’s digital financial landscape.
