The Gene Technology Bill is pushing to deregulate genetic engineering, allowing GE organisms into our environment, food and farms—despite the vast majority public submissions opposing it.

VFF and RCR have fiercely opposed this Bill since day one. This isn't just about science; it's a threat to our clean, green brand, exports (potentially costing $10-20 billion annually), and the health of future generations.

🎉 We had a great pop-up by the Waiuku Lake, which was full of ducks and a sunbathing Comorant.

There were lots of toots, some courageous conversations with our community, and much needed sunshine ☀️ for our pop-uppers.

It was great to have so many wonderful new RCR signs, so we could do a focused gene-tech community education pop-up.

Wild weather hit hard this morning, knocking out power to over 90,000 homes across the Top of the South — and taking the internet and cell networks down with it.

🎙️ “It was good to be able to talk to people on the PRS radio to find out how widespread the outages were and what was going on,” said Linc, our National Coordinator, reporting from Marlborough. “Relay teams worked perfectly and everyone felt in control of communications.”

Meanwhile, Canterbury, Tasman, and Golden Bay have also been active on their networks... great teamwork all round. 💪
